Gems are often found forming below ground, but the crowning jewels of the Inside & Out Earrings are found above and below. This elegant dangling pair features Live Seeds of the Adenanthera Pavonia; or Red Sandalwood Tree; set and surrounded by 18k yellow gold vermeil. The use of the live seeds serves as an homage to the luscious natural growth that encompasses the island of Martinique.

DESIGN INSPIRATION: 

The Bibliothèque Schoelcher or "Schoelcher Library" in Fort-de-France could have inspired a whole collection with its many ornate details and bold design. This eye-catching historic building truly inspired this piece from the inside and out. The library's popping red accents, the gold which details the entire structure; including the captivating sunroof in the first picture; and the strong geometric shapes enhancing the design, were all inspiring moments that influenced the final design of this piece. However, what is most inspiring about this building is its story. Built in France in 1889 and shipped piece by piece to the island of Martinique, it stands today as a monument to slavery abolitionist Victor Schoelcher.
